Personal care and support services

What is in-home personal care?

Known in the medical community as private duty care, this umbrella term is used to describe the skills and activities a person undergoes to take care of themselves, their health, and their home, such as safely and effectively bathing, dressing, taking medications, cooking, cleaning, and companionship.

Northeast Professional Caregivers specializes in caring for our clients in their homes by providing high-quality at-home personal care, homemaking services, and activities of daily living (ADL) support. While often thought of as senior care or elder care, caregiving can be provided to adults of all ages who are in need of private duty services.

If you or a loved one are having difficulty with personal care, homemaking, or activities of daily living (ADLs), our courteous and compassionate caregivers can help bring ease to your life and keep you in your home longer, as safely and independently as possible.

Our staff works directly with you and your family to develop a personalized plan to assist you with everyday at-home activities, so that you can maintain your independence, enjoy life, and remain in the comfort of your own home. We may also consult with your physician and other members of your health care team to ensure we are providing the best care possible.

What makes someone a candidate for at-home personal care:

  • Difficulties with activities of daily living, such as safely bathing, dressing, and taking medications as prescribed
  • Difficulty with homemaking tasks, such as cleaning, housework, meal prep, cooking, and laundry
  • Difficulty getting what you need from out in the community, like grocery shopping, picking up prescriptions, filling medications, and drycleaning
  • Need for companionship to prevent social isolation and provide peace of mind to your family
  • Caregiving can be provided for a senior/elder or an adult of any age who is in need of these services

Your caregiver can assist you in your home for as few or as many hours needed, and caregivers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
